Honeywell Aerospace has signed a cooperation agreement with China Electronics Technology Corp (CETC) to jointly work on various avionics programs. According to Briand Greer, the U.S. group’s president for the Asia Pacific region, the partnership will focus on technologies in which China’s Aviation Industry Corporation of China (Avic) does not currently have a strong position.

Today at Airshow China 2012, Hainan Airlines announced that it selected GE Aviation GEnx-1B engines to power two additional Boeing 787s. This brings Hainan Airlines’ GEnx-powered Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet to 10 aircraft.
Rockwell Collins China managing director Ron Ho believes business for aircraft head-up displays (HUD) in China will soon be looking up. “We have been working with the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) for the past 10 years on the HUD project,” he explained.
GE Aviation is designing and deploying the first required navigation performance-authorization required (RNP-AR) to instrument landing system (ILS) flight procedure in China for Air China Southwest. The two merged technologies will provide more efficient routing and improved access for flight operations at Xi Chang Airport in south-central China. RNP paths rely on satellite-based navigation technology, not ground-based navigation aids.
China’s Spring Airlines has ordered CFM56-5B engines to power a pair of new Airbus A320s that it is due to received in January and July 2014. Engine maker CFM International announced the $40 million deal on November 14 at Airshow China 2012.
Gulfstream Aerospace has established a satellite flight department in Hong Kong to support Gulfstream operators in Asia, the Savannah, Ga.-based aircraft manufacturer announced today at Airshow China 2012 in Zhuhai. Rockwell Collins and China Eastern Airlines extended their joint venture, Collins Aviation Maintenance Services Shanghai Limited (CAMSSL), during a ceremonial signing at the Airshow China 2012 in Zhuhai, today. “CAMSSL is committed to be the leading maintenance service provider for Rockwell Collins products in the Chinese aviation market,” said Feng Liang, chief engineer for China Eastern Airlines said.
Sikorsky and Ruili Jingcheng Group (RJG) signed two contracts for the introduction of an S-92 and S-76D, marking Sikorsky’s first S-92 helicopter sale to a private Chinese operator and the first-ever S-76D sale into China. The signing took place today at Airshow China 2012 in Zhuhai. Both aircraft will be configured for airline use.
Bell Helicopters signed several agreements and appointed a new managing director in China, Chris Jaran, during Airshow China 2012, which is being held this week in Zhuhai.
The company inked an agreement to engage H&P General Aviation Service Co. (H&P) in Guangzhou, China, to be a Bell Helicopter-authorized customer service facility (CSF). The agreement, celebrated during the airshow, allows H&P to perform field maintenance on Bell 407 helicopters.
China’s Avic International is going into the flight training business. The group announced at Airshow China 2012 yesterday that it is bringing to China a new company, Alabama-based Zulu Flight Training, to address the need for general aviation pilot training in China. Zulu Flight Training opened its first training center in the U.S. last July.
