The Boeing 747-8F Freighter gained FAA and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) certification last Friday, paving the way for first delivery to launch customer Cargolux early next month. “Over the last several years, this team has overcome challenge after challenge,” said Jim Albaugh, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes.

Qantas Airways plans to defer delivery of six Airbus A380-800s for up to six

A five-year Qantas Airways plan to reduce dependence on domestic flights and business services and establish two Asian joint-venture partnerships aims to help the Australian carrier to stimulate overseas business. It will lay off 1,000 employees, defer deliveries of six Airbus A380s (and possibly some Boeing 787s), retire four Boeing 747-400s and replace two London services with British Airways code-shares beyond Bangkok and Hong Kong.

EADS is on the acquisitions trail as it steps up efforts to diversify its bus

Turmoil in stock markets and the prospect of another public debt and banking crisis have done nothing to deter EADS in its expansion and diversification plans. The European aerospace and defense group has a war chest of €11 billion ($15.6 billion) for acquisitions, with CFO Hans-Peter Ring confirming on August 10 that the company expects to press ahead with more deals during the second half of 2011.

According to Accenture’s survey, aerospace OEMs fall short in delivering supp

Aerospace manufacturers recognize the need to deliver more comprehensive and valuable support to customers around the world, but they have failed to adequately respond to the challenge, according to new research by Accenture. The management consultancy concluded that a string of “disconnects” have prevented OEMs from gaining the improvements in customer support that they say they want to achieve.
