No. Modern aircraft are highly automated, so it makes sense to put a high degree of emphasis on how to use the automation in a learning environment.

Perhaps. While automation is an important area, the flight training companies put a bit too much emphasis on it to the detriment of other important areas, such as basic airmanship or crew coordination.

Yes. The curriculum at the flight simulation training companies is eroding, instead of enhancing, pilot's airmanship skills. We need to place more of an emphasis on airmanship, not automated systems.

I'm not sure, but training companies do need to carve out more time for pilots to practice airmanship maneuvers, and customers need to insist on this as part of training curricula.
