Abu Dhabi Systems Integration, the United Arab Emirates joint venture of Selex Systemi Integrati (a Finmeccanica company), and Abu Dhabi Ship Building have signed a three-year contract worth more than $6.75 million with the UAE air force and air defense (UAE AFAD) to implement the Capability Maturity Model for Integration (CMMI).  This requires the use of the CMMI Appraisal Method for Process Improvement developed by the Software Engineering Institute at Carnegie Mellon University, which created the CMMI standard now being adopted worldwide. With CMMI, AFAD staff will be able to define, evaluate and improve the system engineering practices of its Flight Test & Development Center, helping it to achieve international flight test standard certification.
