Web ops-tracking service adds inventory module
SkyBooks, a unit of Textron, is adding an integrated inventory tracking module to its maintenance-tracking and operations management service. The user-managed program allows users to add, edit and track cores, bench stock and consumables in their inventories. The module interfaces directly with SkyBooks’ other features, which manage maintenance, warranty, flight operations, expenses, pilot currency and document archiving.
The module can be used to manage local inventory pool and related documents in multiple locations. It can identify part and tool stocks in unlimited locations within a particular facility and can be linked to alternate and superseding part number information. It is preloaded with 170,000 Bell Helicopter part numbers, descriptions and costs.
SkyBooks also automatically updates the status of parts and tools. Color-coded lights turn from green to yellow when a tool’s calibration is due or a shelf-life expiration date approaches. The lights turn red when the minimum or maximum inventory level drops below the user-defined amount, a warranty expires, a tool’s calibration is overdue or a shelf-life expires.
SkyBooks (Booth No. 2053) is an Internet-based subscription service that manages information-processing requirements for rotary- and fixed-wing business aviation operations. It claims to currently manage data for more than 30 different types of rotary- and fixed-wing aircraft. Subscription prices are based on service level and aircraft type.
Full-service, analyst-supported annual subscription programs range from $1,500 for turboprops to $2,900 for light jets. Costs for helicopter ops range from $1,200 to $2,750 based on aircraft complexity. Buyers of new Bell helicopters receive the service free for two years as part of their purchase price.
SkyBooks COO John Willis said his company’s service offers several other unique features, including integrated flight operations, fleet status view, MMEL tracking/ alerting, maintenance tracking/alerting, AD/ASB/SB notification, warranty tracking, task card management with logbook entry and a digital document vault for aircraft historical records and wiring diagrams.
The system is highly secure, Willis said, noting that it operates as a “software as a service” provider using a Tier 4 application service provider data center providing redundant power, Internet access, phone lines and connection speeds up to 100 mbps. All data is backed up daily and stored in an off-site vault.
