Clifford Development (Booth No. 5249) is introducing a supplemental type certificate development program to re-engine Cessna Citation IIs with 3,000-pound-thrust Williams International FJ44-3 engines. The company, headquartered in Toledo, Ohio, is in the process of collecting baseline data and expects certification within 12 months.

According to CEO Jim Clifford,  the re-engined Citation II will have significant performance improvements, including a 21-percent long-range cruise speed increase, a range increase of 29 percent, a 34-percent improvement in single-engine climb rate and a fuel efficiency improvement of 20 percent. The Citation II engine conversion is priced at $1.9 million including engine mount kits, nacelles, engines, installation and training. The price includes a credit for the original engines. “For a Citation II operator whose airplane is near engine overhauls,” Clifford said, “the improvements in fuel efficiency and speed combined with reduced engine maintenance costs can allow for the recovery of this investment in two years.”    –J.H.
