Metrojet of Hong Kong is one of Bombardier Aerospace’s three new business aircraft service facilities, joining Arkia Maintenance of Tel Aviv as Bombardier line maintenance facilities. The business jet manufacturer also named Ruag of Oberphaffenhoffen, Germany, as an authorized service facility.

Stage III Technologies on Friday ceased operations pending further funding, leaving just one company–Miami-based Quiet Technology Aerospace–currently providing hush kits for the Gulfstream II and III market. Stage III’s hush kit was FAA certified in 2005 for the Gulfstream II, IIB and III, and the first four installations, priced at $1.1 million, were scheduled for this March, July, August and September.

Bental Industries has introduced a new member of its family of rotary servo actuators. The RSA-06 unit delivers up to 9.6 pounds per foot of torque at a stroke of +/- 45 degrees. The Israeli group’s RSA actuators are used for functions such as flap controls on small unmanned aerial vehicles. They provide an extremely low power-to-weight/size ratio.

The age-60 rule for U.S. commercial pilots has been changed to age 65, which will allow the U.S. to be consistent with most of the aviation world. It will also help, in the short term, to mitigate the manpower problems facing commercial aviation. Unfortunately, there isn’t an easy solution for the shortfall of certified maintenance personnel, as many of them already work past age 65.

As the Florida company has grown, president and head coach Don Campion has strived to maintain that small-company feel. “One of my driving forces in building this business is to be good at what we do as opposed to being a bigger company with a lot of branches or a chain,” he told AIN.

The FlightSafety International Gulfstream G150 simulator has received European level-D simulator qualification, the first such approval for a G150 simulator, according to the companies.

In addition, the European Aviation Safety Agency has approved FlightSafety’s G150 maintenance training program, located at the Dallas/Fort Worth Learning Center. A second device is slated to enter service in next year’s first quarter.
