Texas Aviation Services (TAS) said it has been certified by Brazil’s Agencia Nacional de Aviação Civil (ANAC) as a repair station for Brazilian-registered rotorcraft.

TAS, exhibiting this week at Heli-Expo Booth No. 3819, said the repair certification license makes it one of “a very few” independently owned U.S. helicopter customization and completion centers to meet ANAC authorization. TAS can now complete, retrofit and customize large turbine-powered helicopters for Brazil’s growing roster of corporate, private and offshore oil support helicopters.

Tim Woodard, president of TAS, estimated the market for turbine-powered helicopters in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro alone at more than 1,000 and forecast a steady increase, along with added usage and a broader base of missions for the current fleet. “São Paulo is arguably the single most helicopter-intensive metropolis on the globe,” said Woodard, who cited “an extraordinary influx” of new customers throughout Brazil.

Texas Aviation Services is based in a 140,000-sq-ft plant at Meacham Field in Fort Worth.
