American Eurocopter’s rotor blade repair shop recently completed work on its 10,000th blade, this one belonging to an Air Methods helicopter that flew in to Eurocopter’s Grand Prairie, Texas shop for maintenance.

The event marked a milestone for the facility, which has grown from 780-sq-ft of space and three employees to an 18-person department working in an 18,305-sq-ft area and turning out an average of more than 1,000 repaired blades per year.

To ensure that all blade shop technicians remain abreast of requirements and procedures, each is required to undergo regular recurrent training either at the Grand Prairie location or Eurocopter sites in France or Germany.

While they do much of the shop’s work at the Texas facility, American Eurocopter blade techs also travel worldwide when customer requirements dictate. Some have journeyed to Mexico, Canada and Hawaii, and as far away as Saipan, Italy and Nepal. Representatives are on hand at the Eurocopter booth (No. 631) to provide details about blade shop scheduling, turnaround times and pricing.
