Signature has confirmed that Beth Haskins, who took over as president of Signature Flight Support five years ago, will be leaving the company in September. No replacement had been selected at press time, and Haskins has not announced any further career plans. Before taking over the top spot at the big FBO chain, Haskins had served many years as the company’s CFO.

Business Jet Center, a Dallas Love Field-based FBO, has been authorized as the first Dallas/Fort Worth-area gateway station for general aviation flights to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), and the first two DCA-bound flights were due out in the middle of last month.

SheltAir Aviation Services expanded its Florida FBO stable to seven and total count to eight with the acquisition of Sowell Aviation Services at Panama City-Bay County International Airport. The purchase includes 40,000 sq ft of FBO terminal, office and hangar space.

After eight months of renovations of its FBO facility, Million Air Fayetteville, Ark., held a grand reopening on August 11. The Fayetteville Municipal Drake Field FBO now features a theater room, snooze room, catering refrigerator and new furniture in the passenger lobby, as well as a beverage bar and 72-inch flat-screen tv.

JetDirect Aviation purchased Regal Aviation, an FBO, maintenance, sales and charter/management company based at Dallas Love Field. JetDirect now owns three FBOs in the U.S. and three FAA repair stations and operates 64 charter aircraft.

Kansas City Aviation Center (KCAC) opened the first of what will be several new FBO and service facilities in its nine-state Pilatus PC-12 sales territory, this one a full-service FBO at Spirit of St. Louis Airport in St. Louis. KCAC purchased the FBO from Thunder Aviation and renamed it Midwest Aviation Center.

Landmark Aviation added a new $2 million hangar and office complex at its Raleigh-Durham International Airport FBO. With 13,500 sq ft of hangar space and 4,800 sq ft of office space, the expansion makes more room for based tenants at Landmark Raleigh. In addition to 24-hour FBO services, the Raleigh facility hosts Landmark charter and aircraft sales operations.

The newest FBO building at Dallas Love Field Airport is six years old but looks younger. Located on the northeast corner of the airport close to the intersection of Runways 13 and 18L, Business Jet Center is a Texas-size facility, with a three-story FBO terminal on a 24-acre property that includes 178,000 sq ft of hangar, FBO and office space.

Aircraft management firm The Air Group launched a discount fuel program and a co-branded Visa card available free to its management clients and for a fee to corporate aircraft operators. The Air Group purchases bulk fuel and passes on savings in its new SmartFuel Program. For handling and ramp fees, The Air Group passes on costs without markups.
