M&N Aviation recently secured U.S. FAA approval to operate charter flights to Cuba. The San Juan, Puerto Rico-based company joins a growing list of operators to add Cuba to their approved Operations Specifications since the U.S. government eased restrictions on travel to the island. M&N’s headquarters at Luis Muñoz MarĂn International Airport (SJU) is one of 19 U.S. gateway airports approved for direct travel to or from Cuba. While based at SJU, M&N is authorized to transit through any of the gateways. The company, which obtained FAA approval in about three weeks, plans to begin operations to the island nation immediately. “We have been getting quote requests daily for about a year now,” said Jeremy Ojerholm, sales and marketing manager.
While restrictions have eased considerably since the end of 2014, passengers must still meet one of 12 qualifying reasons to travel to Cuba. Argus Gold- and Wyvern-registered M&N Aviation has operated in the Caribbean for more than 20 years and owns 11 turboprops and jets.
