NBAA Bids Farewell to ‘Mr. Airports’
Jeff Gilley is retiring after handling airports issues for NBAA and AOPA for nearly 45 years.

Jeffrey Gilley, NBAA’s longtime director of airports and ground infrastructure, is retiring on November 19. Gilley, who joined the association in 1999, has been the association’s expert on airport access and advocacy issues.

He served as staff liaison to the NBAA Access Committee and has handled high-profile access issues in Burbank, Santa Monica, Naples, East Hampton and Teterboro, among many others. Additionally, he has represented NBAA on several groups such as the FAA/Industry Runway Safety Council and represented the International Business Aviation Council at the International Civil Aviation Organization’s Committee on Aviation Environmental Protection Working Group.

Before joining NBAA, Gilley spent nearly 28 years with the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. He was the founding director of a formal AOPA airports department.

“Jeff Gilley has been the industry’s go-to person for decades when it comes to airport issues,” NBAA president and CEO Ed Bolen said. “He is rightly called ‘Mr. Airports,’ and we are indebted for his efforts on behalf of business aircraft operators in the U.S. and around the world.”
