Daher-Socata’s TBM 900 is making its EBACE debut this week here in Geneva, just two months after the upgraded turboprop single was unveiled at the manufacturer’s factory in Tarbes, France. Composites Atlantic of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, won a multi-year contract with Bombardier Aerospace to manufacture composite parts for the horizontal stabilizer of the Global 7000 and 8000. The Canadian vendor will ship parts to Bombardier’s plant in Belfast, N. Ireland, which is responsible for the design and manufacture of the horizontal stabilizers for Globals. Composites Atlantic has been a supplier to Bombardier Belfast since the mid-1990s and manufactures composite parts that are installed on many of the Canadian OEM’s aircraft.
As Pilatus Aircraft prepares the prototype PC-24 twinjet for its official rollout on August 1, the company is displaying a PC-12NG single-engine turboprop painted in Sauber F1 racing team livery at the ABACE 2014 static display. The appearance of the Sauber PC-12 fits neatly with the next big event in Shanghai after ABACE, the Formula 1 UBS Chinese Grand Prix, roaring into town on April 20.

Vulcanair last month delivered the first P68 Observer 2 in China soon after the Civil Aviation Administration of China granted type certificate validation for the high-wing piston twin, in addition to its P68C and Vr (P68R) siblings. According to the Italian manufacturer, the P68 Observer 2’s entire front fuselage is made of clear plexiglass, giving occupants “excellent helicopter-like visibility” needed for mapping, survey, and surveillance missions. Meanwhile, the more conventional-nosed, fixed-gear P68C and retractable-gear Vr are aimed at the training and private aircraft markets.

Boeing Business Jets (Chalet 7) announced last week the first sale of its new BBJ Max 8 executive airliner. Burbank, Calif.-based Avjet Corporation negotiated the deal on behalf of the purchaser, a current BBJ operator.
“Our VIP customers are always demanding new improvements in comfort, speed and range,” said Steve Taylor, president of BBJ Aircraft Division, which is based in Seattle, Wash. “The BBJ Max will extend our lead in this segment and ensures our customers getting the best of both worlds.”
