The Independent Fixed Base Operators Association (Ifboa) announced last month that it has now surpassed the 500-member-company mark. Founded in 2006, the group includes FBO operators, flight schools, repair stations and aircraft management and sales firms among its ranks.

“Reaching 500 members is a terrific milestone for us and a tremendous validation of the need for independent aviation businesses to have the same powerful resources, representation and buying power as larger companies in the field,” said Ifboa founder and executive director John Wraga. Among its benefits, the association offers a workers compensation insurance program that provides competitive pricing and profit sharing to its members. Ifboa also provides educational programs, legal assistance and problem-solving advice.
