Recognizing the need for shelter for heavy iron at their airport, officials at Florida’s Hernando County Airport near Tampa have unveiled plans for the construction of a 32,000-sq-ft hangar and 1.3 acres of new ramp to be built on a four-acre parcel of land adjacent to the airport’s primary 7,002-foot runway. The new structure will have a 32- by 120-foot door, making it accessible by most business aircraft types. Airport authorities are currently looking for a maintenance provider or completions specialist to serve as a tenant, and say they will adjust the floor plan accordingly. The airport, which has approximately 15 based jets, is located in Brooksville, Fla., 40 minutes north of Tampa International Airport.
