Gulfstream’s G650 received provisional type certification from the FAA on Nov. 18, 2011, and the manufacturer expects full FAA certification shortly, allowing planned deliveries in the second quarter. The provisional certification let Gulfstream keep the production line moving, with final-phase manufacturing, including completion activity, continuing on customer aircraft so they can be delivered on schedule. According to FAA registry records, G650s with serial numbers 6001 through 6016 had received airworthiness certificates from the FAA by the end of last year, so it appears that 12 (four airplanes were for the flight-test program) G650s were delivered for completion by year-end. As of mid-January, 35 G650s had N-numbers and were listed in the FAA registry.
