FAA Evaluates South Shore Long Island Helo Route

The FAA is determining the feasibility of a new route for helicopters transiting between Manhattan and the Hamptons designed to provide an alternative for the current North Shore Route.However, some operators have expressed concerns that such a new routing would force traffic more than eight miles offshore at certain points to maintain airspace clearance with JFK.
