Brazilian carrier Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras took delivery of Latin America’s first ATR 72-600 turboprop last month.

Fast-growing carrier Azul has placed orders for a total of 30 ATR 72-600s, and holds options on another 10. Founded in December 2008 by former JetBlue CEO David Neeleman, Azul now flies to 40 destinations throughout Brazil with a fleet of eight ATR 72-200s, 10 Embraer E190s and 21 E195s. It serves more cities within the state of São Paulo from its Campinas base than any other carrier.
