Jacksonville Renames GA Airports
In an effort to increase the awareness of Jacksonville, Florida’s aviation system, the city’s aviation authority has renamed three of its owned and operated airports as part of a rebranding campaign. Cecil Field (VQQ) became Cecil Airport, while Herlong Airport (HEG) was renamed Herlong Recreational Airport. The former Craig Airport (CRG) is now Jacksonville Executive at Craig Airport. The latter airport’s new name has provoked some ire from its GA siblings, which perceive the addition of the word “executive” to Craig Airport’s name as influential in attracting business aviation traffic.
