Cessna Aircraft has added a sixth Citation mobile service unit (MSU) to its ServiceDirect system to augment support capability for the domestic Cessna Citation fleet. The new MSU will be based at McKinley Air on the Akron-Canton Airport. Customers may schedule the MSU through the New York Citation Service Center.

“We have plans to introduce seven more MSUs for now. The plan is to introduce them all this calendar year,” Stan Younger, vice president of service facilities for Cessna, told AIN. “ServiceDirect is the program covering the MSUs as well as our AOG airplane [Air Response Team] as well as other services where we take service to the customer.”

According to Younger, the MSUs are full-size service trucks equipped with tooling to perform a variety of Citation diagnostic and maintenance functions including AOG support. The units can also perform medium-sized planned maintenance events as well as engine removal.

“In 2009, the in-service trucks made 541 service calls, traveling more than 70,000 miles and performing 310 unscheduled and 231 scheduled maintenance jobs. In the first two months of this year, MSUs made 148 support visits,” he said. Other MSUs are based in North Carolina, Texas, Arizona, Southern California and South Florida.
