Victoria, British Columbia-based Viking Air’s MRO division has been granted EASA Part 145 approval. The company holds similar certification from Transport Canada and the FAA. Viking offers aircraft maintenance, repair, modifications, inspection services, airframe overhaul, avionics and custom or standard interiors.

The company, which specializes in the Twin Otter, has added an 84,000-sq-ft facility to support expanding Twin Otter 400 production and support for operators of de Havilland Canada legacy aircraft, from the DHC-1 Chipmunk to the four-engine Dash 7. The new building serves as a corporate headquarters and main manufacturing facility. The additional space has allowed Viking to customize and develop production operations in line with quality systems and continuous improvement targets necessary to support the Twin Otter 400 production program.

Viking launched the DHC-6 Twin Otter 400 production program in 2007 and has a backlog valued at more than $200 million.
