For the fifth straight year, Houston’s Aviation Institute of Maintenance has benefited from the largess of Wing Aviation’s customers and friends.

This year’s fund-raiser brought in a record-breaking $35,000 for the Wing Aviation Scholarship Fund, dedicated to the memory of Charles Marcaurele, an A&P mechanic and senior inspector at Wing Aviation for nearly six years before his death in 2007. The fund provides charitable grants and scholarship opportunities to deserving technical students at the Institute. Last year the event raised more than $10,000 and attracted more than 250 attendees and 100 golfers.

To create awareness of the scholarship program, the MRO hosts an annual Super Bowl party and golf tournament. Guests get to watch the game on a 20-foot, high-definition television screen. In addition they received door prizes, goody bags and enjoyed hors d’oeuvres.
