Long-time aviation journalist William David Wagstaff, 49, died on February 8, following complications from surgery. A lifetime aviation and space enthusiast, Bill was a full-time editor with Aviation International News from 1988 to 2003, serving in many capacities. An engaging writer with diverse interests, Bill is perhaps best remembered for his feature articles, ranging in topics from pilot medical issues to aerial firefighting, as editor of AIN’s rotorcraft section and as editor of AIN Reports, an online newsletter AIN published from 2000 to 2001. He is survived by his wife, Deborah Leary, and son, Samuel. Deborah’s mother has launched a fund to supplement Sam’s college fund. Contributions should be made payable to Sam Wagstaff and sent to Cynthia Leary, c/o Aviation International News, P.O. Box 277, Midland Park, NJ 07432.
