Jet Aviation Basel Employees Help Reduce Job Cuts
Jet Aviation Basel said it will save as many as 60 jobs previously slated to be eliminated. A Swiss labor law-mandated consultation phase resulted in 115 employee suggestions on how to reduce the cuts. Last September AIN reported Jet Aviation would axe up to 300 of the 1,565 jobs at its Basel completions facility over a 12-month period as part of a larger cost-cutting program. A spokesperson cited the “unprecedented contraction in the global economy, which resulted in significant devaluation of the U.S. dollar and the euro relative to the Swiss franc.” Taking into account employee suggestions, in conjunction with newly identified cost-saving measures and the continued streamlining of its business, the company says it is now able to decrease the targeted number to 190. “We are committed to doing our utmost to mitigate the impact of this difficult economic environment on our employees,” said Dan Clare, president of the Jet Aviation Group.
