Oxford, Conn.-based Key Air and Pentastar Aviation have signed a memorandum of understanding for the opening of a Pentastar Aviation-operated satellite repair station to be located at Key Air’s FBO facility at Waterbury-Oxford Airport. The new location marks Pentastar’s first East Coast operation. The Pontiac, Mich. operation also has an FBO on California’s Van Nuys airport.

Lance Fera, senior vice president of business development, told AIN that initially the facility will be performing light to moderate inspections. “As the organization matures at that location we expect to grow into a full-service operation,” he said. Aircraft based at Waterbury-Oxford Airport will be offered preferred rates for services performed at both the new Pentastar location as well as the home base in Greater Detroit.

Twenty-five-year-old Key Air offers aircraft management, international jet charter and FBO services. Key Air also has a location at Twin Cities (ANE) just outside Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minn. Pentastar Aviation and Key Air expect to finalize their alliance, as well as the timetable for launching the new Pentastar-OXC facility, later this spring.
