Arinc’s Asset Management Offers Inventory Control
IT directors concerned with the rising cost of parts and inventory management have another option available. Arinc Managed Services (AMS) is offering a new tool: mobilized asset management. AMS adds mobile data access and updating capabilities to Arinc’s asset management and inventory control solutions. According to a spokesman for the company, the system reduces paperwork and delays for field technicians while facilitating an accurate parts inventory that is updated daily, helping protect the significant monetary investment in an organization’s spare parts and equipment inventory. “Our customers expect us to keep an accurate track of their inventory,” said Don Brien, Arinc managed services senior director. “This new mobile solution allows service technicians to update asset information in real time, on location, while actually performing preventive maintenance or resolving trouble tickets on the floor.” The system uses Windows-compatible portable devices combined with bar-code scanning. Field users can scan a bar code to identify an asset or query the current inventory. Updated asset information can be entered at any time, and all data is synced back to the main inventory database at the end of each day.
