Air Works India, an MRO based in Mumbai, was named today at the European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (Ebace) in Geneva as an authorized service center (ASC) by Dassault Falcon. Initially it will serve as a line service center offering 24-hour troubleshooting, line maintenance and inspections, up to 2B, for the Falcon 900EX and 900EASy series.

Tool manufacturer and distributor Snap-on Industrial has introduced the ATC 5 tool-control system, which combines software, a keyless entry system, foam-cut toolbox drawer liners and digital image capture devices inside the toolbox to help users keep track of tools. ATC 5 users first scan a proximity card on the keyless entry system to log in and open the toolbox.

Dallas-based AAT Aircraft Maintenance has been certified as an FAA-approved Part 145 repair station. The certification allows the MRO to perform light to heavy maintenance and major repairs and modifications on the Gulfstream II/IIB/II-SP/III/IV and Hawker 700/800/800XP. Embraer and EgyptAir Maintenance & Engineering have signed a five-year agreement designating the MRO an authorized service center for the Embraer E170/190 series. The Cairo-based carrier was already an established Embraer flight-hour pool program customer. Under the terms of the agreement the MRO will provide routine checks and scheduled and unscheduled maintenance for EgyptAir Express and third-party E-Jets.

In a move that makes it look as though the FAA is combing through old logbooks to find ways to conduct enforcement actions on commercial operators, the agency on August 14 assessed $7.1 million in civil penalties against American Airlines. Earlier this year, the FAA requested a record $10.2 million for maintenance violations at Southwest Airlines, and the FAA recently said that it would not reduce that amount.

Dassault Falcon will open a new $6.5 million factory-owned service center at Sorocaba Airport in São Paulo, Brazil, in the fourth quarter, bringing the company’s service-center network to four locations worldwide, with an additional 30 authorized service centers. The 23,000-sq-ft facility will house up to three Falcons. Services available at the facility include line maintenance and A checks.
