“There are still a number of battles to win if we are to see business aircraft flight activities in Europe return to pre-crisis rates,” EBAA chairman Rodolfo Baviera said at the association’s annual general meeting, held on Friday in Brussels. “EBAA has established a set of key priorities aimed at removing growth barriers for our sector–be they financial or operational–to ensure that we can continue meeting the demand” for business aircraft travel.

To accomplish this, EBAA will train its focus on “high-profile topics,” including combating illegal flights, ensuring airspace access and achieving a “fairer” EU emissions trading scheme (EU-ETS). It also plans to finish development of business aircraft handling standards.

EBAA said it will be working closely with European officials on legislation to prevent and regulate illegal flight activity. The association will also push to maintain equal slot access for business aviation in Europe. In addition, it is aiming to confine “distortions of competition” under the EU-ETS “stop the clock” action.

Meanwhile, EBAA’s International Standard for Business Aviation Handling will enable the sector to conduct its own quality and safety assessment of FBOs and ground handling.
