Jet Expo 2011 Takes Off at Moscow Vnukovo-3
Jet Expo 2011, which started yesterday and concludes tomorrow, is being held entirely at Moscow Vnukovo-3 business aviation center for the first time, with the static display located close by the Indoor space. This is a major departure from previous shows, when the company booths were at Crocus City Hall, some 20 miles away from the static line at Moscow Vnukovo Airport. This year, there are 75 exhibiting companies, which is 22 more than last year but still 16 fewer than the record set in 2008. Twenty-eight airplanes and one helicopter–a Bell 429–are on static display at Jet Expo. Organizers expect between 6,000 and 7,000 attendees during the three-day show, with the bulk anticipated tomorrow. Of particular note, not one local aircraft manufacturer participated in this year’s event; all the aircraft on display were of foreign origin, including those from Gulfstream, Embraer and Airbus Corporate Jetliner. “I think the local companies want to participate, but the fact is that none of the domestic airframers has a competitive product in [the business aviation] market segment,” Jet Expo director Aleksander Evdokimov told AIN.
