While professing satisfaction with what turned out to be record participation at NBAA’s business aviation regional forum at Westchester County Airport yesterday, association president and CEO Ed Bolen emphasized that what really made his day was Kevin Plunkett’s attendance and words of support at the event. Plunkett, who is the Westchester County deputy executive, praised the New York bizav hub as “a catalyst for jobs that are integral with what you people do every day. The airport is home to more than 80 businesses and 1,300 jobs. We want to make sure that the people and companies who use our airport are welcome.” With temperatures in the mid-90s, some 2,000 people wandered among 110 exhibitor booths and 37 aircraft on static display, hosted by Panorama Flight Service. “Westchester County understands that this airport matters,” said Bolen. “Historically, we haven’t been able to say that of Westchester and some other airports.” Bolen also used the forum as a pulpit to rally the troops in opposition to the government’s dismantling of Barr, a program that he characterized as reflecting “all the values that are inherent in the U.S. system of government.”
