Farnborough International Ltd. (FIL) has chosen Shaun Ormrod, who hails from the events industry, to be its new chief executive. Ormrod will take over the role after the July airshow. He will replace managing director Trevor Sidebottom, who is retiring in November.

The board’s decision to recruit its newest chief executive from the events industry reflects its desire to position the Farnborough International airshow as the principal asset in a larger international events and venue portfolio.

Ormrod said, “As we prepare to commemorate a century of innovation on this site, we are of course planning for the next 100 years, and in this context, I am very positive about the opportunities for development to maximize the potential of this show site…I will be talking to airshow exhibitors to find out what is important to them in delivering customer service to their clients and customers, and I will use the information to further develop the long-term strategy for Farnborough International airshow. ”
