Completion and refurbishment specialist Flying Colours of Peterborough, Ontario, announced here at NBAA 2014 a joint-venture agreement with China-based Sparkle Roll Technik (SRT), which focuses on business jet cabin modifications and maintenance.
The first project, scheduled to begin by the end of October, will see eight China B-registered Bombardier CRJ-200s (procured by SRT) converted from commuter to executive interiors mirroring the Challenger 850.
The first conversions will be performed at Flying Colours’ Peterborough facility and are expected to take eight months each. Flying Colours will develop and own STCs for the conversions, which will be validated by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).
“Sparkle Roll Aviation management was familiar with our ExecLiner conversions and green 850 completion experience, and knew we had experience with CAAC,” said Flying Colours president John Gillespie. “Our understanding of the certification paperwork registration process, STCs and extensive modification knowledge complemented their ambitions to further develop this sector of their aviation business.”
The agreement also calls for Flying Colours to train SRT technicians in modification techniques and for the establishment of a hangar facility at Linyi City in Shangdong Province, where the final stages of later conversions will be performed.
