Aerobatic airshow ace Patty Wagstaff, who’s performing on Thursday and Saturday here at Sun ’n’ Fun 2014 in Lakeland, and Extra aircraft distributor Southeast Aero have teamed up to create the Patty Wagstaff Aerobatic School in St. Augustine, Fla. (KSGJ), where both Wagstaff and the company are based. With an aerobatic box adjacent the airport’s primary runway, St. Augustine has long been a magnet for sport aviation and top aerobatic performers.

The Patty Wagstaff Aerobatic School will focus on precision aerobatics in classic competition style for people who want to fly for recreation, airshows or competition. Additionally, the school will offer tailwheel and upset training to individuals and corporate flight departments. Training will be conducted in the Super Decathlon and the Extra 300L, the two-place version of the high-performance monoplane Wagstaff flies in airshows around the world.

“Starting an aerobatic school gives me and my instructors a chance to pass on our experience in aerobatics and upset training, and to help create more skillful and safer pilots,” said Wagstaff. “We have already attracted students from Australia, Europe and Canada as well as from around the U.S., and we are hoping to become one of the premier aerobatic training centers in the world.”
