Safety initiative aims to stem ramp rash

Reducing the incidence of damage to aircraft on the ramp is the aim of the ground accident prevention (GAP) initiative now under way by the Flight Safety Foundation. A GAP steering committee, comprising safety specialists from business aviation as well as airlines, airport service providers and aircraft manufacturers, will establish working groups to collect and analyze data and develop recommended improvements to education, training, management, equipment, operations and regulations.
